Cunliffe CFS protects its farming community

The Cunliffe Country Fire Service brigade was formed out of necessity after a large fire tore through the community in 1960. The blaze burned from Kadina to Arthurton before a wind change turned it toward Cunliffe, where it destroyed large areas of crops and some properties.“That spurred the local community to buy its own fire truck,” current brigade captain, Michael Bussenschutt, said.“A few years later the town received a government-funded fire truck.”The station has been serving Cunliffe and surrounding towns attending any large fire where assistance was required since
