Marion Bay a bush brigade
Marion Bay a bush brigade

Marion Bay Country Fire Service could be described as a true bush brigade, surrounded by some of the largest areas of dense scrub on the peninsula, and bordered by Innes National Park.Marion Bay CFS volunteers Bob Rigoni, Jutta Rigoni, Wendy Marshall, Tony Marshall, Wayne Gurney, Rudi Pieck, Trevor Lloyd and Bill Sauerwald with the brigade’s new appliance. While this small coastal enclave has only around 150 permanent residents, that number swells to several thousand during peak holiday periods, with 140,000 visitors passing through each year on their way to the park.Marion Bay CFS is a group of dedicated volunteers supported by the wider community, and has a good working relationship with local farmers.“We currently have 19 active members including breathing apparatus operators, two active auxiliary members, and three cadets; three of our volunteers are also SA Ambulance Service volunteers,” brigade Lieutenant Rudi Pieck said.“Like many other brigades we are always on the lookout for some younger members; none of us is getting any younger with three in their 70s!
