About half the volunteers in the Minlaton Country Fire Service brigade are under 30, many having started as cadets.  “Compared to others, we’re a young brigade,” captain Gavin Porter said.  “We’ve currently got 14 active members and we’re all mates, the fact that a couple of us joined up led to others coming on board.  “We probably average eight to 10 people for a call out, which is pretty good and after the fire at the Minlaton sports store last year we picked up five new members.  “I think it really opened people’s eyes and made them realise how important the service is to the community
