Port Vincent CFS in need of youth

Unlike many Yorke Peninsula brigades the Port Vincent Country Fire Service is not struggling for volunteers with 20 operational firefighters plus support officers, around 35 members in total.
“We are not doing too badly really and are one of the lucky brigades membership wise,” brigade member and Southern Yorke deputy group officer, Steve Cornwell, said.“There is only one problem a lot of our members are over 60 so we need some younger people to think about stepping up, but it is hard when they’ve got to go elsewhere for employment. “It’s a story being repeated all around the state, I’m afraid there’s no easy answer when it comes to recruitment.”
