CFS Jump On Board campaign... Volunteering a way of life

Warooka may only be a small community but it is a place where volunteering is a way of life for some, putting their hands up for the Country Fire Service, State Emergency Service and SA Ambulance Service. On board the Warooka truck are keen cadets Tom Taheny, Will Taheny and Angus McEvoy, with senior firefighters Warren Murdock, Josh Mengerson (captain), Brandon Murdock, Andrea Newly and John Taheny. However, it is the Warooka CFS brigade that is really feeling the pressure at the moment. When asked how many volunteers they had on the books, the quick response was not enough! There are 26 active members, with a core group of 10 attending most incidents. They are hoping the current nine cadets stay around to secure the brigade’s long-term future.Waiting to undertake his basic training, newest recruit Brandon Murdock has followed his father and grandfather into the CFS, deciding it was time he, too, did his bit for the community
