Port Clinton’s Country Fire Service station doesn’t have a huge number of firemen, but its crew is bolstered by a couple of women who can certainly match it with the blokes. Across South Australia there are an impressive number of women CFS volunteers, and many hold privileged positions; however, on YP, stations with female firefighters are a rarity. Jenny Szabo has been with the Port Clinton brigade for two and a half years, and said any woman considering joining should get involved straight away. “Don’t be scared by it all, or put off,” she said.
